Restorative Practice Training

For mediators, coaches, counsellors and those involved in communities, schools, management, leadership and organisational development.
This online engaging and interactive programme provides you with the information and skills to help people develop, repair and build relationships in a proactive way and also in a responsive way where harm and hurt has occurred. Participants learn about the theory of restorative justice and practice using skills and processes transferrable across many contexts. Participants will explore how restorative approaches will enhance the mediator’s toolkit and add to client’s possible options in moving past hurt, trauma and conflict. There is a strong focus on being trauma-informed and responsive in restorative work. Participants will:
- Gain an overview of the national and international context for restorative practice
- Learn about restorative principles, philosophy, concepts and practices
- Assess, prepare and facilitate restorative events
- Use circle processes for varied situations and contexts
- Engage with complex and sensitive cases in restorative practice
- Discuss the potential, the limitations and the risks of restorative practices
- Examine the role of human emotion in social relationships especially shame, anger, and vulnerability
- Explore the role of revenge, apology and forgiveness in restorative practices and mediation
- Learn about being a trauma-informed restorative practitioner
- Develop your reflective practice and ethical awareness
